Chapter 6 - The Small Security Camera Had Been Turned Away

There was normally a foyer camera mounted near the upper landing.

Daniel assumed the footage would settle everything.

It almost did.

Except the camera showed mostly wall.

Someone had rotated it forty degrees away from the staircase earlier that afternoon.

The security company pulled the access log.

Manual adjustment recorded at 3:14 p.m.

From Vanessa’s phone.

She had used the home-security app.

Her explanation:

“I was checking why the camera kept sending motion alerts.”

The technician asked:

“Why did you physically rotate the view afterward?”

She had no good answer.

Then another detail surfaced.

At 3:21, Vanessa texted Grace:

Please bring the fresh towels to the guest suite. Dad is resting.

Grace left Robert alone for seven minutes.

During those seven minutes—

Vanessa wheeled Robert into the foyer.

Positioned him at the top landing.

And waited.

Lisa was in the dark hallway coloring.

Vanessa apparently did not know she was there.

The plan had depended on the foyer being empty.

It almost was.
