Chapter 17 - the truth exposed
The entire hearing room fell into a state of utter shock. Hundreds of journalists simultaneously pointed their cameras at Hayes, flashes popping continuously like lightning striking straight down on the corrupt general's head.
But that wasn't all. Evelyn stood up, declaring resoundingly: "I have submitted all offshore bank account statements and Hayes's treasonous bribery list to the FBI. You are not a defender of justice; you are just a robber."
At that exact moment, the giant mahogany double doors of the hearing room swung open. FBI agents wearing badges walked in with stern faces. They marched straight up to the presiding podium, pulling out cold figure-eight handcuffs.
"General Hayes, you are under arrest for bribery, extortion, and high treason," the lead agent said loudly, completely ignoring the politician's desperate protests.
