Chapter 7 - The Dishonorable Exit

The cinematic realism of the absolute, crushing betrayal completely paralyzed the arrogant officer.

"Captain, sir, I can explain!" Rourke sobbed hysterically, dropping the microphone onto the hardwood floor with a loud, electronic screech. "I was just trying to maintain the integrity of the SEAL program!"

"You were bullying a child, Lieutenant," Captain Vance corrected ruthlessly, completely devoid of human mercy. "Senior Chief Torres is a highly decorated combat veteran. Her service to this country is unimpeachable. You are a logistics officer who has never left a desk."

Rourke began to hyperventilate. His immaculate service uniform felt like a suffocating cage.

"Hand over your cover and your ID," Captain Vance commanded coldly. "You are relieved of your duties at this recruitment event. You will report directly to my office at 0800 tomorrow morning for a formal disciplinary hearing regarding conduct unbecoming of an officer."

Rourke’s hands shook violently as he reached up, removing his military cover and pulling his ID badge from his pocket. He handed them to the Captain, completely humiliated, entirely stripped of his pride, his power, and his fake authority.

"Get out of this school," Captain Vance ordered.

The one hundred and eighty-seven students watched in absolute, stunned silence as the arrogant, cruel officer turned around and walked out of the gymnasium, completely defeated and utterly disgraced.
