Chapter 6 - The Commander's Arrival

"I apologize, Senior Chief," Rourke wept pathetically, completely abandoning his arrogant, superior persona. "I'll issue a formal apology to the school. Just please, don't escalate this."
Evelyn didn't feel a single ounce of pity for the coward standing in front of her.
"I don't need to escalate it, Daniel," Evelyn replied smoothly. "I already did."
Before Rourke could even process her words, the heavy double doors of the gymnasium swung open for a second time.
Stepping into the bright indoor lighting was Captain Mitchell Vance, the commanding officer of the entire naval base. He was a towering, heavily decorated veteran with silver hair, radiating a crushing, undeniable aura of absolute power.
Rourke’s jaw literally unhinged. The blood violently drained from his face as he realized his commanding officer had just walked into the high school.
Captain Vance didn't look at the students. He marched directly across the polished basketball court, his perfectly shined shoes clicking sharply. He stopped right next to Evelyn and delivered a flawless, respectful salute to the retired handler—a massive, public sign of undeniable respect.
Evelyn returned the salute perfectly.
Captain Vance then turned his cold, furious eyes entirely onto Lieutenant Rourke.
