Chapter 10 - The Ultimate Reward

The chaotic, satisfying justice settled into a profound, peaceful silence on the street.
Eleanor turned her back on her pathetic, sobbing son. The terrifying billionaire vanished, replaced once again by the warm, grateful grandmother whose life had been saved.
She walked over to Julian and his mother.
Sarah was trembling, holding Julian’s hand, completely overwhelmed by the explosive drama that had just unfolded.
"I am so incredibly sorry for what my monster of a son put you through," Eleanor said softly, her eyes filled with genuine remorse. "You raised an extraordinary young man, Sarah. And extraordinary actions deserve extraordinary rewards."
Eleanor reached into her coat pocket one final time. She pulled out a thick, gold-embossed envelope and handed it directly to Julian.
Julian opened it with shaking hands. Inside was a set of keys and a heavy legal deed.
"That is the deed to a four-bedroom luxury townhouse in the safest neighborhood in Chicago," Eleanor smiled brightly. "It is completely paid off, forever. And I have set up a full-ride scholarship trust fund for Julian's education. You will never have to worry about rent, or arrogant landlords, ever again."
Sarah broke down into heavy, beautiful sobs of absolute relief, dropping to her knees to hug the elderly woman tightly. Julian beamed with pure joy, realizing his terrifying sacrifice had saved his family.

In the months that followed, Richard was forced to take a minimum-wage job flipping burgers just to survive, completely abandoned by high society. Eleanor fully recovered and visited Julian’s family every Sunday for dinner, knowing that the greatest investment she ever made wasn't in real estate, but in the pure, golden heart of a ten-year-old boy in a grey hoodie.
Do you think Richard deserved to be left completely homeless, or should his mother have given him a second chance?
