Chapter 27 - the manual override

While the security team dismantled Thorne's operation on the ground, Julian remained in the underground command room, his eyes locked onto the digital tracker of the flagship tower. The rogue signal had been severed, but the blast doors were still locked.

"The encryption key is corrupted," the lead systems controller panicked. "We can't restore remote access. The employees have ten minutes before the tower runs out of backup oxygen and they suffocate."

Julian didn't hesitate. He grabbed the secure radio microphone. He wasn't just a corporate CEO; he possessed an intimate, brilliant understanding of the building's complex engineering. "Captain, this is Julian. Listen to me very carefully."

He guided the terrified security guards through a highly classified manual override sequence. It required them to physically sever the primary data cables beneath the basement floorboard while operating entirely blind in the dark.

The command room fell into a suffocating, absolute silence. Finally, the radio crackled. "Manual control restored, Mr. Hayes," the guard breathed heavily. "We are opening the doors. You saved us."
