Chapter 52 - the digital hostage

Julian was analyzing quarterly reports in his executive penthouse when the red emergency phone on his mahogany desk began to ring violently. It was a secure line connected directly to the conglomerate's global security control center.

Inheriting a terrifyingly cold composure, Julian answered the phone. His security director's voice was shaking with paralyzing panic. The flagship tower had completely vanished from their primary grid, and the internal systems were locked out.

"It's a digital hijacking, sir," the director reported, his voice cracking. "A rogue server has taken full remote control of the tower's automated life support. They are demanding fifty million dollars in untraceable crypto, or they will seal the blast doors."

Julian’s dark eyes narrowed to freezing ice. Hundreds of innocent employees were currently trapped in the skyscraper, completely helpless.
