Chapter 5 - The Woman in the White Dress

Three miles away, inside the sterile, quiet VIP wing of Chicago General Hospital, a heart monitor beeped steadily.
Eleanor slowly opened her eyes.
She was the woman in the white dress and floral scarf. But she wasn't just some random elderly citizen. Eleanor Vance was the fierce, incredibly powerful billionaire matriarch who founded Vance Real Estate Holdings. She was the absolute owner of the empire her spoiled, arrogant son Richard was currently managing.
A team of top-tier cardiologists hovered over her bed.
"You are incredibly lucky, Mrs. Vance," the head doctor said, adjusting her IV drip. "You suffered a massive myocardial infarction. If that ambulance had arrived even three minutes later, you wouldn't have survived. You owe your life to the person who called 911."
Eleanor took a slow, trembling breath. Her mind flashed back to the blinding sunlight, the cold concrete, and the terrified face of the ten-year-old boy in the grey hoodie holding her hand. She remembered his innocent voice begging her not to die.
"Where is he?" Eleanor rasped, her voice weak but laced with undeniable authority.
"Where is who, ma'am?" the doctor asked.
"The boy," Eleanor demanded, pushing herself up against the pillows. "The child with the brown hair and the black backpack. He stayed with me. He saved my life."
"There was no boy when the paramedics arrived at the hospital, ma'am," the doctor replied softly. "He must have slipped away into the crowd."
Eleanor’s eyes narrowed with absolute determination. She was a woman who built a billion-dollar empire from scratch. She never left a debt unpaid, especially a debt of life.
