Chapter 10 - The New Family

Alexander didn't execute the maid. He walked directly up to Elena, looking at her with profound, overwhelming respect.
"You risked your daughter's life to protect my sister's location," Alexander said gently. "You are no longer a maid in this syndicate."
Alexander completely transformed her life. He promoted Elena to Head of Estate Operations, tripling her massive salary and completely erasing her from the cartel's radar. He set up an irrevocable, multi-million-dollar trust fund for little Lyla, ensuring the brilliant three-year-old girl would never have to worry about a single thing for the rest of her life.
Six months later, the messy gray maid uniform was permanently gone.
The penthouse was filled with bright interior lighting again. Elena walked through the massive living room wearing a stunning, elegant designer dress. She wasn't an employee anymore; she was treated with the absolute respect of a true member of the family.
Alexander sat on the plush leather sofa, holding little Lyla on his lap. The terrifying, muscular mafia boss smiled a genuine, breathtakingly warm smile as the three-year-old happily played with the shiny silver heart-shaped locket.
He had survived the absolute worst betrayal imaginable, brilliantly executed a flawless multi-million-dollar trap, and emerged completely, undeniably victorious.
