Chapter 5 - The Boss's Mercy

The cinematic realism of the suffocating, emotional tension completely paralyzed the room.
Alexander looked down at Elena. She wasn't a malicious, greedy spy trying to steal his wealth. She was a terrified, deeply traumatized mother who was forced to choose between the life of his sister and the life of her own three-year-old child.
Alexander slowly lowered his weapon.
He didn't execute the maid. He looked at little Lyla, who was holding onto her mother's leg, completely terrified by the shouting.
"You didn't steal the ledgers, Elena," Alexander whispered quietly, his deep voice carrying profound, undeniable respect. "You had six months to bankrupt me, and you didn't do it. You tried to protect my sister's location, and you protected my empire."
Alexander reached down and gently helped the weeping woman to her feet.
"Get Lyla," Alexander commanded smoothly, turning entirely toward his elite, heavily armed syndicate members standing in the background. "Take her to the secure vault in the basement. She is officially under my absolute, unconditional protection. If the Romanovs want to touch your daughter, they have to go through me."
Elena let out an apocalyptic sob of pure, unadulterated gratitude, hugging her child tightly as the bodyguards escorted them to safety.
