Chapter 9 - The Execution

"Vincent, wait! I can explain!" Carmine shrieked like a feral banshee, completely losing his mind. "She was going to find out about my side deals! I had to frame her! Have mercy!"

Vincent felt absolutely zero human empathy for the screaming traitor.

"You murdered the woman I loved," Vincent whispered lethally, pressing the barrel of the suppressed handgun directly against Carmine’s chest. "You stole three years of my life."

Vincent didn't yell. He didn't monologue.

He pulled the trigger.

The suppressed shot echoed quietly in the grand office. Carmine’s eyes rolled back, and his arrogant, toxic reign of greed and betrayal ended instantly, his body collapsing heavily onto the expensive rug.

Vincent stood up, dropping the weapon onto the desk. He was breathing heavily, his hands covered in the blood of his ultimate revenge. He looked down at Sophia, who was still sitting on the floor, trembling in pure shock.

Vincent slowly knelt down in front of her. He didn't look like a monster. He looked like a profoundly broken man who had finally found the truth.
