Chapter 5 - The Medical Secret
"How do you know my name?!" Victoria shrieked, completely dropping her sophisticated persona. She aggressively pointed her manicured finger at Naomi. "Are you one of his pathetic little stalkers?!"
"I'm the woman he left to marry your money," Naomi stated clinically, completely dominating the massive room.
Victoria physically stopped breathing. The warm bakery lighting suddenly felt incredibly freezing. She slowly turned her head to look at Theo. Her husband was completely pale, trembling violently in his gray overcoat, absolutely unable to deny the accusation.
Victoria's furious gaze slowly dragged downward, locking directly onto the two identical five-year-old boys standing behind Naomi. She saw the distinct, crooked left eyebrow on Eli's face. The exact same eyebrow her husband had.
The crushing magnitude of the betrayal hit the wealthy wife with the physical force of a freight train.
"You have kids?" Victoria choked out, her jaw literally unhinging. "You told me you were sterile! You told me that's why we had to spend two million dollars on failed IVF treatments!"
The entire bakery was completely paralyzed. The quiet Sunday customers watched in absolute, stunned silence as the dark, twisted corporate lie completely unraveled.
Theo hadn't just abandoned Naomi; he had actively, maliciously lied to his wealthy new wife to hide his past, intentionally letting her suffer through years of agonizing medical procedures just to protect his executive position.
