Chapter 1 - The Departure

Soft, bright daylight poured through the massive windows of the luxurious mansion bedroom, illuminating the dust motes dancing in the air. The space, once a symbol of untouchable wealth, was now a staging ground for a quiet, devastating exit. Open clothing racks stood entirely bare. Framed photographs had been meticulously stripped from the walls.

Adrian Moretti, a ruthless billionaire accustomed to absolute control, stopped dead in the doorway. He wore a fitted black shirt that perfectly highlighted his broad shoulders, tailored black trousers, a leather belt, and a heavy silver watch. His short, wavy brown hair and light stubble framed a face that was usually an unreadable mask of power. But today, his natural micro-expressions betrayed a deep, unsettling confusion.

Two movers in blue work clothes and caps walked quietly past him, carrying plain, unlabelled cardboard boxes out toward the staircase.

Standing in the center of the adjoining dressing area was his wife.

She wore a beautiful, pale-blue knitted maternity dress, though she strategically stood behind a towering stack of packing boxes, completely obscuring her abdomen from his sightline. Delicate pearl earrings and a thin gold necklace caught the natural light. She looked breathtakingly composed, radiating a quiet, dangerous independence.

Adrian stared at her, his eyes darting to the black suitcase resting on the textured bedding.

“You’re moving out?” Adrian asked, his voice low and tight.

A close-up captured her face. Her slow eye movement locked onto his. There was no exaggerated crying, no screaming. Her lips parted in incredibly realistic, restrained lip sync.

“You asked for a divorce,” she replied, her voice perfectly calm.

Adrian stepped into the room, his eyes scanning the packed boxes that stood like a fortress between them. “Where?”

“My condo,” she answered smoothly. “Lincoln Park.”

👉 Adrian scoffed, entirely unaware that the woman he was throwing away was about to completely shatter his reality.
