Chapter 7 - The Unredacted Truth

“I didn't steal a single cent from this family,” his wife stated clinically, her voice echoing perfectly across the silent bedroom.
She finally rested her hand on the sleek cover of the closed leather folder. She didn't open it all the way—she carefully kept the left side, which held the ultrasound, completely hidden. Instead, she slipped two fingers into the right pocket and pulled out a thick stack of heavily highlighted, unredacted financial bank statements.
She slid the documents smoothly across the cardboard packing box, pushing them directly into Adrian’s line of sight.
“But she did,” his wife whispered, locking her fierce eyes onto Vanessa.
Adrian snatched the documents from the box. His dark eyes scanned the high-definition bank logs. The cinematic realism of his sheer, crushing betrayal was absolute.
The documents clearly proved that the "stolen money" Adrian had blamed his wife for eight months ago had actually been systematically embezzled by Vanessa. The Vice President had forged Adrian’s signature, funneled millions into a Cayman Islands shell account under her own brother’s name, and flawlessly framed the wife to trigger the divorce.
Vanessa’s jaw literally unhinged. She physically staggered backward, her scarlet designer dress suddenly feeling like a suffocating straightjacket.
“Adrian, it’s a fake!” Vanessa wailed hysterically, desperately grabbing his arm. “She hacked the system! She’s trying to frame me!”
Adrian didn't yell. The silence that radiated from his massive frame was infinitely more terrifying. He slowly turned his head, looking at the mistress he had destroyed his entire marriage for.
