Chapter 5 - The Vanguard Revelation

“I wouldn't be so sure about that, Vanessa,” his wife replied quietly, her expressive eyes locking onto the mistress.

Vanessa crossed her arms defensively, her scarlet dress suddenly feeling incredibly tight. She desperately tried to regain control of the narrative, leaning heavily against Adrian’s shoulder to assert her dominance.

“Don't listen to her psychotic delusions, Adrian,” Vanessa sneered, though a faint bead of sweat had formed on her brow. “She’s just trying to delay the inevitable. We have bigger things to celebrate today. The Vanguard Tech acquisition is officially finalized. I wired the final eight hundred million to the proxy firm this morning. We own the patents.”

Adrian nodded slowly, though his mind was racing at a million miles an hour. The Vanguard patents were the absolute crown jewel of his global syndicate. Securing them guaranteed his company’s dominance for the next three decades. It was the sole reason he had stayed in London for eight months.

“You wired the funds to the proxy firm,” his wife repeated softly, her voice carrying a terrifying, untouchable authority.

“Yes, I did,” Vanessa spat, glaring at her. “So pack your cheap bags and get out of my house.”

His wife didn't move. She didn't look at Vanessa anymore; she shifted her calm, devastating gaze directly back to her billionaire husband.

“Adrian,” his wife whispered, her tone dropping to a freezing, lethal frequency. “Did you ever bother to check the names of the executive board members on that Vanguard proxy firm?”
