Chapter 1 - The Deadly Dinner

The elegant American dining room was a cinematic masterpiece of extreme wealth and domestic perfection. Warm ambient lighting glowed from a crystal chandelier above the polished wooden table. Expensive lit candles flickered softly, casting dancing shadows over three bowls of creamy squash soup.

But the quiet, sophisticated dinner was about to violently shatter.

Without warning, Brenda tilted forward. She was a woman in her sixties wearing a light beige lace dress and a heavy pearl necklace. Her short blonde hair fell into her face as her eyes rolled completely back into her head. She collapsed heavily over her bowl, her face splashing into the creamy squash soup.

Thomas, a handsome man in his late thirties wearing a sharp dark suit and tie, jumped up so fast his chair crashed backward onto the floor. He violently knocked over his expensive crystal wine glass, shattering it.

"Mom?!" Thomas screamed, his voice cracking with sheer, unadulterated panic.

Sitting across the table, his wife, Liliana, completely froze. She was a stunning woman in her thirties, wearing a dark green evening dress with her dark hair pinned in a flawless updo. She didn't scream. She didn't cry.
