Chapter 6 - The Mother's Complicity
The police officers didn't touch Liliana. The lead officer simply looked at Thomas with absolute, unadulterated disgust.
"Your wife isn't responsible for serving the food you deliberately poisoned, Mr. Vance," the officer stated firmly. "You brought a lethal substance into this house."
Thomas thrashed wildly against the officer's grip, his expensive suit wrinkling. "My mother is dying because of her!"
"Your mother is dying because of her own greed, Thomas," Liliana interrupted, her voice dropping the crying act entirely. Her tone was ice-cold and lethal.
Liliana tapped a second file on her phone—an audio recording she had captured from the hallway earlier that evening when Thomas and Brenda thought they were alone.
"Make sure you put enough in her bowl, Thomas," Brenda’s cruel, calculating voice echoed from the phone speaker. "We need that property guarantee signed tonight, or we will both lose everything. Just do it."
The police officers gasped.
