Chapter 15 - the invisible snare

The Cipher hackers greedily continued their digital assault, completely unaware they were being brilliantly outmaneuvered. As they bypassed Richard's intentionally weakened secondary firewall, the rogue algorithm flooded into a trap.
It was a highly contained, isolated server mimicking the conglomerate's primary offshore bank accounts and network controls. The Syndicate thought they had finally won the war. Instead, the trap snapped shut with devastating, catastrophic finality.
Richard’s viral counter-code didn't just lock the enemy virus out; it violently surged back through its own connection. It systematically overloaded and destroyed the incredibly expensive hardware of the Syndicate's global network in seconds.
The lead hacker announced with absolute, triumphant authority that they had found the physical location. The central authentication server wasn't in an office building. It was located on a heavily fortified, decommissioned naval fortress hidden deep in the freezing, violent waters of the Baltic Sea.
