Chapter 1 - The Sunday Humiliation

The adjoining kitchen and dining room were filled with warm, beautiful pendant lighting, casting a cinematic glow across the crisp white tablecloth and fresh floral centerpieces. The formal table was meticulously set for a flawless Sunday evening dinner.
But the atmosphere in the room was suffocatingly toxic.
Dorothy, a sixty-three-year-old woman with softly styled gray hair, wearing a pale-blue cardigan over a cream blouse, walked steadily out of the kitchen. Using thick oven mitts, she was holding a heavy roasting pan containing a massive, beautifully cooked twelve-pound honey-garlic glazed ham.
As she approached the dining table, her daughter-in-law, Christa, aggressively stepped directly into her path.
Christa, in her early thirties with shoulder-length blonde hair, wore an elegant beige blouse and tailored black trousers. She blocked Dorothy completely, looking at the older woman with pure, unfiltered disgust.
"Find something in the fridge," Christa commanded coldly, aggressively pointing a manicured finger toward the kitchen appliances. "This dinner is for our guests."
Dorothy stopped. She looked at the heavy, steaming ham in her hands, then shifted her gaze to her son, Owen. The mid-thirty-something man in a navy polo shirt was standing near the kitchen entrance. He completely coward out, aggressively avoiding his mother’s eyes.

"I paid for this and cooked it myself," Dorothy stated softly, her voice carrying a quiet but undeniable resolve.
👉 Christa smirked arrogantly, completely unaware that she had just triggered the total destruction of her perfect life.
