The chaotic, violent tension finally evaporated from the grand luxury ballroom. The wealthy guests slowly turned back to their meals, terrified of drawing the mafia boss's attention.
Silas let out a slow, heavy breath. The ruthless, terrifying executioner vanished, and he turned his attention back to the two trembling staff members.
Leo, the young deaf waiter, was still shaking, completely overwhelmed by the explosive reality he had just triggered. Elena stood protectively beside him, her hands clasped nervously in front of her white apron.
Silas reached out, picked up the three-million-dollar diamond ring from the table, and slipped it casually into his pocket. He looked at Elena.
"Tell him he has nothing to fear in my city ever again," Silas said softly, the lethal edge completely gone from his voice, replaced by profound, genuine respect.
Elena quickly signed the message to Leo. The young man’s shoulders dropped, a massive, breathtaking wave of relief washing over his face as he realized he was safe.
"You both stood your ground against a monster when it would have been easier to lie," Silas continued, his eyes locking onto Elena. "That kind of loyalty is impossible to buy. As of tomorrow morning, neither of you are waiting tables. I'm transferring you to the executive payroll of my primary holding company. Your salaries are quadrupled, and your families are under my permanent protection."
Elena gasped, tears of pure, overwhelming joy spilling down her cheeks as she frantically signed the life-changing news to Leo, whose face instantly lit up with a brilliant, emotional smile.
