The beautiful, rustic American lakeside cabin was a cinematic display of absolute, untouched tranquility. Bright, warm summer afternoon daylight poured over the weathered cedar siding and the massive glass windows. Hanging baskets filled with bright pink flowers swayed gently in the breeze off the crystal-clear blue lake, creating a perfect, peaceful sanctuary deep in the forest.
But the profound silence of the woods was violently shattered by the aggressive crunching of heavy tires on the gravel driveway.
A massive, incredibly expensive black luxury SUV skidded to a harsh halt directly in front of the wooden porch.
Elliot, a sixty-four-year-old retired father, was standing firmly on the porch of his newly purchased property. He was a tall, broad-shouldered, distinguished man with short silver-gray hair, a neatly trimmed beard, and a weathered, serious face. He wore a worn brown leather jacket over a plaid button-up shirt and faded blue jeans.
In his strong, calloused hand, he held a thick, heavy blue folder.
The rear hatch of the luxury SUV popped open with an electronic beep.
Sienna, Elliot's early-thirties daughter-in-law, confidently stepped out of the vehicle. The beautiful blonde woman wore an incredibly expensive cream-colored tailored blazer over a fitted white top and matching cream trousers. She carried a beige designer handbag, radiating pure, toxic arrogance as she aggressively marched toward the porch.
She didn't greet her father-in-law. She didn't smile. She aggressively pointed her manicured finger toward the beautiful cedar cabin.
