Chapter 7 - The Waiter's Delivery

The waiter, who had been standing frozen in the doorway holding a silver tray, finally moved. But he didn't walk toward the bar to fetch the vintage champagne.
He walked directly toward Robert.
The waiter was a tall, broad-shouldered man with a serious expression. He stepped up to the head of the table. But instead of a bottle of champagne, the man reached inside his tailored vest. He pulled out a thick, heavy manila envelope with a red government seal stamped across the front.
He slapped the envelope hard against Robert’s chest, forcing the older man to grab it.
"Robert Bennett," the waiter said, his voice completely devoid of any customer service politeness. "You have been officially served."
Robert’s victorious smile melted off his face instantly. "Served? Served with what? I just signed the divorce papers!"
Robert frantically ripped open the manila envelope. He pulled out a stack of federal documents, his eyes darting across the bold, terrifying text. The champagne flute slipped from his fingers, hitting the carpeted floor with a muffled thud.
