Chapter 9 - The Freezing of the Accounts

Robert began to hyperventilate. He clutched his chest, struggling to breathe in the warm, elegant room.
"But the settlement!" Robert shrieked, waving the divorce paper he had just forced Julia to sign. "You just signed the company! You took the liability! I have the offshore accounts!"
"You really don't read the fine print, do you?" Jason scoffed, shaking his head. "That settlement document you had your sleazy lawyer draft? I swapped it this morning. You didn't just transfer the Bennett Corporation to Mom."
Jason leaned forward, his eyes burning with righteous fury. "By signing that paper tonight, you legally surrendered all claims to any marital assets protected under US law, while fully admitting sole ownership of the Cayman accounts."
Julia finally set her silverware down. She dabbed her mouth with her napkin one last time and looked up at her ruined husband.
"And since you claimed sole ownership of those offshore accounts, Robert," Julia said, her voice dripping with lethal satisfaction, "the IRS was legally allowed to freeze them entirely at 7:00 PM tonight. You have absolutely nothing. No company. No wife. And no money."
Amber screamed. The sleek, blonde mistress dropped the federal documents and backed away from Robert as if he were covered in a deadly disease.

"You're broke?!" Amber shrieked, her true, gold-digging nature completely exposed. "You told me we were flying to Monaco tonight! You liar! I am not going to prison for you!"
