Chapter 14 - The pathetic apology

After a sleepless, agonizing night in the miserable standard room, Daniel finally snapped under the crushing weight of his own guilt. He rode the elevator to the penthouse level, his tailored beige trousers now deeply wrinkled, his face pale with sheer, unadulterated terror. He desperately banged on the heavy mahogany double doors, loudly sobbing and pleading for his mother to simply look at him and forgive his weakness. The doors clicked open smoothly, revealing Richard in his flawless charcoal suit. The general manager didn't speak a single word of comfort. He simply handed Daniel a sleek, high-definition tablet computer. The screen was actively playing security footage from the lobby, accompanied by perfectly clear audio of Vanessa mocking him behind his back. She was viciously calling him a spineless, pathetic momma's boy who was only good for his inheritance. Daniel dropped the tablet onto the thick carpet, completely shattered. The toxic, fake reality he had sacrificed his own mother to protect was an absolute, horrifying lie. His wife despised him just as much as she despised Margaret.
👉 Daniel fell to his knees in the quiet hallway, completely oblivious to the devastating, life-altering ultimatum waiting for him inside the suite.
