Chapter 7 - The True Authority

The heavy, suffocating silence in the lobby was absolutely deafening.
Richard didn't apologize to Vanessa. He didn't ask what the problem was. He reached inside his tailored charcoal suit jacket and pulled out a sleek, heavy black envelope embossed with the resort's golden crest—the master keys to the absolute highest tier of the property.
With a deep, highly respectful nod, Richard offered the black envelope directly to Margaret.
"Your suite is ready, Mrs. Whitmore," Richard stated professionally, his voice carrying an unquestionable, absolute reverence. "The private elevator has been unlocked, and your personal staff is waiting for you upstairs."
A tight close-up captured Vanessa’s face. The malicious, arrogant smile violently vanished, entirely wiped from her features. All the color drained from her cheeks, leaving her looking like a terrified ghost.
Her jaw literally unhinged as she stared at the heavy black envelope in Margaret’s hands.
"Wait... what are you doing?" Vanessa demanded, her voice cracking into a high-pitched squeal of pure, unadulterated panic. She stepped aggressively toward the General Manager. "I am the one who organized this trip! My husband's credit card is on file! I told the front desk to give her the standard room!"
Richard finally turned his head to look at the screaming woman in the cream resort outfit. His expression remained entirely composed, professional, and completely devoid of human mercy.

"Why are you taking orders from her?!" Vanessa shrieked wildly, pointing a trembling, manicured finger directly at Margaret's face. "She's just a retired old woman! You work for me!"
👉 Richard took a slow, deliberate breath, entirely ready to deliver the ultimate, world-shattering revelation.
