Chapter 16 - the midnight confrontation

When the lights slowly hummed back to life, Marcus found himself completely surrounded by four massive, heavily armed syndicate enforcers. They stood like statues, radiating lethal intent.

Sitting behind the massive oak desk, entirely cloaked in shadows, was Luca Moretti. Maya stood firmly by his side, holding an encrypted tablet containing every single piece of damning evidence.

Marcus physically staggered backward, his arrogant smile instantly evaporating into sheer, unadulterated terror. He recognized the terrifying aura of the old mafia boss. "Luca! What is this?" Marcus stammered, his voice cracking with panic.

Luca didn't raise his voice. He stood up slowly, moving with the terrifying, silent grace of a true phantom. He walked around the desk, stopping mere inches from the trembling traitor.

"You used my charity to fund monsters," Luca whispered, his voice vibrating with absolute, demonic fury. "You took food out of the mouths of children to buy bullets for a syndicate."
