Chapter 8 - The Stripping of Power

"You threatened to blacklist a young woman who was brave enough to do the right thing," Luca continued, his cold eyes locking back onto his weeping sister. "While you stood here dressed in silk, trying to starve the very people our family swore to protect."

"I'm your sister!" Victoria cried out, falling to her knees on the hard kitchen floor, desperately trying to manipulate his familial loyalty. "You can't do this to me over a bunch of street kids!"

"Those 'street kids' are my family," Luca replied smoothly. "You are just a parasite."

Luca slipped the piece of paper into his pocket. He didn't even look at her anymore. He spoke directly over her head to the Chef.

"Armand," Luca commanded gently. "Call my personal security team. Have them escort Victoria to the front gates. She is not to retrieve her coat. She is not to enter the residential wing. She leaves the property exactly as she is right now."

Victoria shrieked in absolute horror. "No! Luca, my car keys! My apartment is paid for by the trust! You can't leave me with nothing!"

"The trust is frozen as of this second," Luca stated, turning his back on her. "You are entirely cut off. And if that $100,000 isn't wired directly to the shelter's account by 8:00 AM tomorrow, I will personally hand this forged ledger over to the District Attorney."

Two massive men in black suits suddenly appeared in the kitchen doorway. They grabbed the screaming, thrashing Victoria by the arms and dragged her out through the back service exit, her cries fading into the cold night air.
