Luca stood perfectly still, his heavy boot resting securely on Kovac’s chest. The estate lobby was completely silent, save for the groans of the defeated mercenaries. Maya stood right beside her boss, entirely unharmed.
Within minutes, heavily armored federal tactical teams breached the lobby. Luca's security chief had finally convinced the local commanders to let the elite federal units take over the situation. They swarmed the room, securing the mercenaries and disarming the explosives.
The lead federal agent walked directly up to Luca, a look of profound, overwhelming respect crossing his hardened face. He knew exactly who the quiet corporate executive truly was, and what he had just accomplished.
"We have the warlord, sir," the agent said quietly, ensuring the local police wouldn't hear. "Your classified status remains perfectly intact. We'll handle the official report. Thank you for your service."

Luca simply nodded. He didn't want medals or recognition. He picked up his weapon, holstered it, and turned to look at Maya. The ghost of the underworld was finally, permanently fading back into the shadows.
