Chapter 22 - the estate siege
The grand estate was quiet and orderly until the heavy glass doors shattered completely. Heavily armed mercenaries wearing dark tactical gear poured into the lobby, their assault rifles raised, instantly plunging the mansion into terrifying chaos.
They systematically disabled the communication grids and locked down the building. Panic erupted among the staff, but Maya didn't scream or cower. The deep, unyielding discipline Luca had instilled in her instantly took over.
Maya calmly ushered the terrified staff into a secure, subterranean safe room, locking the heavy reinforced doors behind them. She pulled her encrypted cell phone from her tailored jacket pocket, realizing it was completely jammed by the intruders.
Kovac, the arrogant, heavily scarred warlord, marched into the ruined lobby. He grabbed a terrified security guard, holding up a photograph of the brilliant young executive.
