Chapter 7 - The Terrified Plea

A tight, cinematic close-up captured Victoria’s face. The arrogant, elite woman who had just threatened to ruin a maid’s life was completely shattered.

Heavy, desperate tears welled up in her eyes, spilling over her designer makeup. Her lips trembled violently as the devastating reality crashed down upon her. She hadn't just stolen money; she had stolen from the very orphanage that had kept Luca alive before he was adopted. She had touched the one thing the Mafia boss considered sacred.

"Luca... please," Victoria begged, her voice breaking into a terrified, choked whisper.

She reached out with a shaking hand, trying to touch his navy blue suit jacket.

Luca didn't flinch. He didn't yell. The restrained emotion on his face was infinitely more terrifying than an explosion of rage. He simply took one step backward, allowing her hand to drop through the empty air.

"You stole from starving children," Luca said, his voice dropping to a dead, icy monotone. "You let forty-three kids sit in a freezing dining hall, waiting for food, so you could pad your own bank account."

"I was going to put it back!" Victoria sobbed hysterically, completely losing her composure. "I just needed a bridge loan for a real estate investment! You cut off my allowance, Luca! I had to maintain my lifestyle!"

"Your lifestyle," Luca repeated, looking at her expensive diamond earrings and her designer burgundy gown.
