Chapter 41 - the ominous arrival

Five years after the beautiful garden wedding, the Pascale medical foundation had expanded across three continents. Ivy and Lucas were now expecting their first child, a symbol of absolute hope for the family's future. Peace seemed eternal.
But the underworld always has a way of scratching at the doors of the righteous. One rainy Tuesday evening, a severely wounded man was dragged into the emergency room where Lucas was the chief surgeon.
The man was barely clinging to life, bleeding from multiple gunshot wounds. As Lucas cut away the patient's blood-soaked shirt to begin the emergency trauma protocol, he froze.
Etched deeply into the man's chest was a faded, intricate tattoo of a coiled serpent wrapped around a bleeding crown. It was the ancient, forbidden crest of the original Boston syndicate—the exact emblem Ivy's father had violently dismantled decades ago.
The dying man suddenly grabbed Lucas's wrist with terrifying strength, his eyes wide with absolute panic. "Tell the old king," the man choked out, blood spilling from his lips. "The grave is empty. Silas has returned."

The heart monitor flatlined, leaving a chilling echo in the cold room. Lucas stepped back, his brilliant surgical hands trembling slightly, not from fear of blood, but from the terrifying realization that his wife's family was about to be dragged back into the brutal abyss.
