Chapter 7 - The Ultimate Betrayal

Massimo’s muscles burned as he tried to push himself out of the bed, but the heavy sedatives sabotaged his body, causing him to slump back against the pillows with a frustrated groan.
"Leave her out of this, Dominic," Massimo rasped, his voice dripping with deadly venom. "This is between you and me."
"There is no 'us' anymore, Boss," Dominic laughed, cocking his weapon. "You're a cripple. Boston needs a modern king, not a man in a wheelchair. And as for the therapist... well, accidents happen in big houses."
Dominic shifted the barrel of his gun toward Tessa.
Tessa didn't scream. She didn't beg. She looked at Massimo, her eyes carrying a fierce, challenging spark that mirrored his own.
Massimo stared at her. In that fraction of a second, something inside the broken mafia boss snapped. He didn't feel paralyzed anymore. He felt the burning fire of the man who built an empire from the gutter.
"Tessa... grab the nightstand drawer," Massimo whispered, his voice suddenly steady, completely devoid of the sedative's weakness.
Dominic frowned. "Shoot her—"
With lightning speed, Tessa yanked the hidden heavy oak drawer open, exposing Massimo’s custom backup tactical shotgun. She didn't hesitate. She grabbed the weapon, whipped it around, and racked the slide with deafening precision, leveling the barrel straight at Dominic’s chest.
Dominic froze, his gun trembling in his hand. "You—you can't—"
