Chapter 19 - The price of greed

Armed federal officers stormed the executive boardroom. The cold, heavy click of steel handcuffs echoed loudly as they locked around Richard and Marcus's wrists.
Marcus kept his head down, completely destroyed. His grand billionaire fantasy had just violently morphed into a fifteen-year federal prison sentence.
Richard screamed Claire's name, tears completely soaking his wrinkled, pathetic face. But Claire didn't even blink, turning her back on the man who had aggressively thrown a fifty-dollar bill at her just months ago.
Vanessa wasn't arrested for the theft, but she was violently escorted out of the building. She was thrown onto the wet concrete sidewalk in the pouring rain, her cheap rented dress ruined.
She collapsed on the street, screaming hysterically, completely abandoned by society. She had absolutely nothing left—no money, no family, and no fake prestige.
