Chapter 17 - the lethal maestro

"Lieutenant, calm down," Damon commanded, his voice cutting through the chaotic radio static with absolute, freezing authority. "You are not trapped. You are exactly where you need to be."
Damon pulled up the detailed structural blueprints of the facility. He remembered every single inch of this compound from twelve years ago.
"Fall back into the adjoining boiler room," Damon instructed with blinding, surgical precision. "There is a secondary ventilation shaft hidden behind the primary furnace. It leads directly to the roof."
"We can't move! They have the hallway covered!" the lieutenant yelled.
"You have three stun grenades," Damon stated, flawlessly tracking their inventory from thousands of miles away. "Throw two down the hall to blind the patrol. Keep the third. Move now."
The squad executed the maneuver, sprinting into the boiler room under the cover of the blinding flashes. They found the hidden shaft exactly where Damon promised it would be.
They climbed frantically, reaching the freezing, snow-covered roof of the compound just as the enemy forces flooded the lower levels. The extraction chopper was waiting, hovering silently above the storm.
