Chapter 1 - The Wedding Interruption

The multi-million-dollar luxury wedding reception was an absolute masterpiece of extravagant high-society wealth. The grand ballroom was illuminated by thousands of sparkling crystals hanging from massive chandeliers. Countless elaborate arrangements of pristine white flowers decorated the dining tables, and hundreds of elite guests mingled smoothly in their expensive formal wear, drinking vintage champagne.

But the sophisticated, joyful atmosphere was completely, violently shattered near the massive double doors of the ballroom.

The Bride, a woman in her late twenties with a flawless blonde updo, was standing at the head table. She wore a breathtaking, custom-made white strapless wedding dress, and resting beautifully against her collarbone was a massive, priceless heirloom emerald necklace.

Her perfectly contoured face was suddenly twisted into a mask of pure, unfiltered, and deeply aristocratic disgust.

She raised her hand, pointing her manicured finger aggressively across the polished dance floor at an uninvited guest who had just stumbled through the doors.

Standing in the center of the luxurious ballroom was a woman in her thirties. Her brunette hair was a tangled, messy disaster. Her face was heavily bruised, swollen with dark purple and yellow marks. She was completely barefoot, her feet dirty against the pristine marble. She wasn't wearing a designer gown; she was wearing a cheap, faded light blue hospital gown, and thick white medical bandages were wrapped tightly around her neck.

"Get that filth out of my sight!" the Bride shrieked harshly, her loud, venomous voice echoing over the sudden, dead silence of the entire grand ballroom as the wealthy guests turned to stare in absolute, paralyzed shock. "Security! Throw this trash out into the street right now!"
