Chapter 23 - the devil's smile

The federal maximum-security prison was a cold, dark, and suffocating fortress. Caroline stepped into the visitation room, her authoritative CEO demeanor completely contrasting with the gloomy space.

Behind the tempered glass, her sister appeared in a dull orange inmate uniform. Her short hair was frayed, but her eyes still exuded undiminished venom and hatred.

"Came here to mock me, Caroline?" she sneered, picking up the phone receiver. "Or to cry and beg me to stop? The game has only just begun, my dear sister."

Caroline showed no anger. She stared at the person who had once tried to take her life. "Do you think Marcus truly loves you? He is only using your hatred to take over this corporation."

The smile on her sister's lips stiffened slightly, but she quickly masked her insecurity with a maniacal laugh. "Just you wait. He will make you lose everything, exactly how you took everything from me!"
