Chapter 84 - the counter strike

The Vanguard hackers greedily took the bait. As they bypassed Caroline's intentionally weakened firewall, they flooded into a highly contained, isolated server mimicking the conglomerate's primary offshore bank accounts. They thought they had won.

Instead, the trap snapped shut with devastating, catastrophic finality. Caroline’s viral counter-code didn't just lock them out; it violently surged back through their own connection, systematically destroying their incredibly expensive hardware.

"We have their physical location, Thomas," Caroline announced, her voice ringing with absolute, triumphant authority. "They aren't in Europe. They are operating out of an abandoned high-rise in the downtown financial district. Right in our own city."

Thomas’s jaw locked into unyielding stone. The cyber-war was officially over. The physical, bloody reckoning was about to begin. He checked the magazine of his tactical sidearm, his eyes radiating pure, unadulterated, and apocalyptic fury.
