Clara was sitting on the quiet patio of the estate when Lily's call came through. The moment her daughter detailed the absolute, violent audacity of the Apex Coalition, the peaceful retiree vanished entirely. The ruthless matriarch was resurrected.
Clara immediately activated the deep, subterranean safe room beneath the estate, a high-tech command center Arthur had built decades ago. Lily arrived via heavily armored helicopter an hour later, stepping into the bunker with eyes as cold as ice.
"They want our primary European patents, Mom," Lily reported, tossing the mercenary's encrypted phone onto the metal table. "They have bribed the international regulatory board. If we don't transfer the rights, they plan to destroy our infrastructure."
Clara looked at her brilliant daughter, feeling a surge of immense, overwhelming pride. "They think they can intimidate us with street thugs and corrupt politicians. They forgot that Arthur built our empire by crushing absolute monsters."
