Chapter 53 - tracing the evidence

To defeat a powerful federal senator, Lily needed undeniable, physical evidence. This time, hackers could not completely help them, because Hayes was an old-generation man. He kept his dirtiest secrets locked in a physical safe.

Lily utilized the underground intelligence network Arthur had left them to monitor all of Hayes's activities. It took two agonizing weeks to discover that Hayes frequently visited an isolated, off-the-grid villa not registered under his name.

"He hides black financial ledgers and extortion audio recordings there," Lily pointed to the satellite map projected on the large screen. "But this villa uses a closed-circuit security system. It cannot be hacked remotely. We must break in directly."

Clara stared at the screen. Breaking into a senator's house carried massive legal risks. If caught, their conglomerate would collapse, and they would both go to federal prison for the rest of their lives.
