Chapter 7 - Christmas Morning Reborn

The sun rose on Christmas morning, casting a brilliant, golden light across the snow-covered grounds of Arthur Vance’s estate.

Inside the grand living room, a massive, twelve-foot balsam fir tree stretched toward the vaulted ceiling, weighed down with twinkling lights and glittering ornaments.

Little Lily sat on the plush rug, tearing open presents with uncontainable joy, surrounded by more toys than she had ever dreamed of.

Clara stood by the kitchen island, wearing a soft apron, pouring fresh coffee. She looked healthier, rested, and radiant, the terror of yesterday completely gone from her eyes.

Arthur walked into the room, wearing a comfortable sweater instead of his usual stiff business suit. He held a mug of coffee in one hand and smiled as Lily ran up to him, holding up a new painting set.

"Look what Mr. Arthur got me!" Lily beamed.

Arthur laughed, a rich, booming sound that echoed through the high-ceilinged room—a sound that hadn't been heard in these halls since Caroline passed away.

He looked over at Clara, and their eyes met in a silent, profound understanding. They had both lost so much, but in the depths of winter, they had found each other.

Meanwhile, across town, the cruel landlord, Mr. Henderson, received a certified letter from Arthur Vance’s corporate legal team. The check Arthur had written was fully cleared, but the legal team also bought out the landlord’s mortgage. Henderson was given thirty days to vacate the property himself, tasting the exact bitterness of eviction he had inflicted on others.
