Chapter 1 - The Black Beast
The enormous marble hallway of the ultra-luxurious New York mafia mansion was completely bathed in warm golden lighting from massive crystal chandeliers. But the elegant, untouchable serenity was about to be violently shattered by pure, unadulterated terror.
Maya, a beautiful seven-year-old girl with long dark-brown curls, rosy cheeks, and big innocent brown eyes, was playing barefoot on the cold marble floor. Wearing a pale-pink dress, she happily bounced a red rubber ball down the long corridor, entirely unaware of the lethal danger lurking in the shadows of the estate.
Suddenly, a massive, muscular black blur violently rounded the corner.
It was Caesar, an enormous, heavily muscled black Cane Corso with a distinctive pale scar across his thick muzzle. He was a highly trained, terrifying guard dog, known to be aggressively lethal toward any strangers in the mansion.
Caesar locked his glowing eyes onto the little girl. He let out a deafening, chest-rattling bark and charged full speed down the marble hallway directly toward barefoot little Maya.
A dozen heavily muscled bodyguards in expensive black suits recoiled in absolute terror, entirely too slow to intercept the massive beast.
"MAYA! GET AWAY FROM HIM!"
