Chapter 10 - The Reclaimed Empire

The chaotic, toxic energy was entirely dragged out of the ultra-luxurious mansion.

The Marcone syndicate was completely, permanently eradicated from New York City. The surviving leaders were thrown into federal prison, completely stripped of their wealth and power. Gabriel didn't leave a single enemy alive to ever threaten his family again.

The heavy steel doors of the panic room clicked open.

Gabriel walked into the quiet, safe room. His expensive black suit was completely ruined, covered in dust and debris, but he was entirely unharmed. He looked at Elena, who was sitting on the floor, holding Maya tightly against her chest.

Gabriel didn't yell at her for running away. He didn't punish her for stealing seven years of his daughter's life. He understood exactly why a mother would risk everything to protect her child from a monster.

He dropped to his knees on the cold floor, completely surrendering his pride.

"You never have to run again, Sofia," Gabriel whispered softly, tears of pure, overwhelming gratitude flooding his eyes. "I will tear this entire city apart before I let anyone touch you or our daughter ever again."

Elena finally stopped crying. She looked at the terrifying, ruthless mafia boss, realizing he wasn't a monster anymore. He was a fiercely devoted, completely broken father who had just burned down the world to save them.

Six months later, the black-and-white maid uniform was permanently gone. Elena walked through the grand marble hallway wearing stunning, elegant designer clothes, officially taking her rightful place as the undisputed Queen of the empire.

Gabriel completely transformed his syndicate, aggressively shutting down the violent operations and transitioning his massive wealth into legitimate real estate holdings, ensuring Maya would inherit a completely clean, legal multi-billion-dollar dynasty.

He had survived the absolute worst betrayal imaginable, defeated the monsters who tried to destroy his family, and emerged completely, undeniably victorious.

If you were Gabriel, would you have forgiven Elena for hiding your daughter for seven years, or was knowing she did it to protect her the absolute perfect excuse?
