Chapter 43 - the bleeding docks

Maya never waited for her enemies to strike first. If they wanted a war at the Brooklyn shipping docks, she would personally deliver a message they would never forget. The freezing midnight rain lashed against the harbor as Maya and Leo arrived in a fleet of black armored vehicles.
The docks were eerily silent. The massive cargo containers cast long, terrifying shadows across the wet concrete. Leo stepped out first, his tactical weapon drawn, his senses sharpened to absolute, lethal perfection. He motioned for his elite security team to fan out and secure the perimeter.
Suddenly, the blinding floodlights of the shipping yard violently shattered. The area plunged into absolute darkness. Deafening, suppressed gunfire erupted from the rooftops of the surrounding warehouses. The hidden mercenaries had set a massive, deadly ambush.
