Chapter 6 - The Burn Scar

A tight cinematic close-up captured Elena’s left hand.

Running aggressively across her palm and wrapping entirely around her wrist was a massive, highly distinct, faded burn scar. It was a severe, traumatic injury that perfectly matched the thermal signature of a structural fire.

Gabriel’s jaw literally unhinged. The crushing magnitude of the impossible reality hit him with the physical force of a freight train.

He looked closely at Elena’s face. Seven years of profound trauma, extreme stress, exhaustion, and completely different hair color had significantly changed her appearance. But underneath the messy brown bun and the cheap maid uniform, the delicate, elegant facial features were absolutely, undeniably familiar.

"Sofia?" Gabriel choked out, the terrifying mafia boss completely shattering into a million pieces.

"No!" Elena shrieked wildly, violently ripping her hand away from his grip. She sprinted across the marble floor, desperately scooping Maya into her arms. "I'm not Sofia! Sofia is dead! Let us go!"

The bodyguards instantly stepped forward to block the grand entrance doors, raising their hands to stop the fleeing woman.

"Do not touch her!" Gabriel roared, his demonic fury echoing perfectly across the dead-silent mansion, completely halting his security team in their tracks.
