Chapter 10 - The Justice Served

The heavy double doors swung open, and a dozen armed federal agents stormed into the grand entrance hall.
"Vanessa Vance, you are under arrest for corporate espionage, grand larceny, and conspiracy to commit murder," the lead agent announced, stepping forward with heavy steel handcuffs.
"No! Please! Don't touch me!" Vanessa shrieked hysterically, thrashing wildly in her ruined blue gown as the agents violently hauled her to her feet.
They didn't give her a coat. I smiled gently, adjusting my red silk dress. "I accept."

As I stood in the grand hall, finally stepping out of the shadows and into my true power, the storm outside began to clear.
If you were Avery, would you have accepted the billionaire's offer to run his security empire, or would you have walked away to start a completely new life?
