Chapter 4 - The Ghostly Pendant

The heavy, suffocating silence in the grand hall was suddenly broken by the sound of heavy leather shoes stepping onto the marble.
Dominic Sterling had arrived.
The late-thirties billionaire was incredibly handsome, with dark stubble and piercing eyes. He wore an unbuttoned black dress shirt and tailored black trousers, completely soaked from the heavy rain outside. He had just returned from a brutal business trip, only to walk through his open double doors and find a delivery girl standing over his fallen fiancée.
Vanessa immediately began to sob, playing the victim flawlessly. "Dominic! Darling, help me! She attacked me for absolutely no reason!"
Dominic didn't rush to help her up. He didn't even look at Vanessa.
His cold, intimidating expression completely vanished. He stood frozen in the open doorway, the rain dripping from his dark hair. His eyes bypassed the ruined cake, bypassed the wealthy guests, and locked entirely onto my chest.
He was staring directly at the silver pendant resting against the red silk.
It wasn't a cheap piece of jewelry. It was a heavy, custom-forged silver crest—a crest that belonged exclusively to the highest-ranking inner circle of the Sterling corporate empire.
All the color violently drained from Dominic’s face. The cinematic realism of his profound, breathless shock was breathtaking.

"Where did you get that?" Dominic asked. His voice wasn't an angry shout. It was a pale, shaking whisper that echoed across the silent room.
👉 I stood up to face the billionaire, completely unaware that my answer would shatter his entire reality.
