Chapter 6 - The Murder Confession

The cinematic tension in the grand entrance hall was absolutely paralyzing. The rain poured heavily outside, but inside, the air was completely frozen.

Dominic took a slow, deliberate step toward me. He looked at the silver pendant, then looked deeply into my eyes. He saw the exact same fierce, unbreakable determination that his mentor had possessed.

"Arthur didn't leave you a necklace," Dominic stated, his voice dropping into a low, grave register.

He turned his head slowly, shifting his cold, terrifying gaze down to Vanessa, who was physically trembling in the cake frosting.

"That pendant is a master decryption key," Dominic continued, the realization hitting him with the kinetic force of a freight train. "Arthur was investigating a massive, billion-dollar embezzlement ring inside my company ten years ago. He told me he was close to exposing the traitors. The next morning, his brakes failed on the highway."

My blood turned to absolute, freezing ice.

"Your father didn't die in an accident, Avery," Dominic whispered, the raw, agonizing truth echoing off the marble walls.

I physically staggered backward. For ten years, I had suspected foul play, but hearing it confirmed by the billionaire completely shattered my heart. My father was murdered.

Vanessa began to hyperventilate. Driven by pure, animalistic desperation, she shrieked at the top of her lungs.
