Chapter 29 - the final embers
Dominic's tactical squad quickly subdued the remaining mercenaries of the Scorpion Gang. All servers, criminal data, and international money transfer records were cleanly confiscated by our team. There was absolutely no chance for leniency.
Dominic did not execute the syndicate leader immediately. Instead, he copied all the irrefutable evidence of corruption and weapons smuggling, then anonymously forwarded it directly to Interpol and the top intelligence agencies. The gang was wiped out.
Hundreds of corrupt officials who had once backed the mercenary network were simultaneously arrested overnight. The arrogance of the world's most notorious criminal organization was completely smashed to pieces by a billionaire and his security director.
Dominic and I stepped out of the underground base as dawn began to break. The first warm, golden rays of the new day shone down on the city of Chicago, effectively dispelling the thick fog and the bone-chilling cold of a fierce, incredibly long night.
