Chapter 7 - The Trojan Horse

The two towering, heavily armed security guards didn't hesitate. They lunged across the black-and-white marble floor, reaching out to violently grab my arms and drag me away.

They thought I was just a tired, broke delivery girl in a red dress.

They were catastrophically wrong.

With blinding, surgical precision, I ducked under the first guard's massive arm. I grabbed his wrist, twisted my hips, and used his own heavy momentum to flip him violently over my shoulder. He crashed into the hardwood table, shattering a crystal vase.

The second guard drew his baton. I didn't back away. I stepped directly inside his guard, delivering a brutal, flawless palm strike to his solar plexus, followed by a sweeping kick that completely knocked his legs out from under him.

Both highly trained guards were incapacitated on the floor in under four seconds.

The wealthy guests screamed, scrambling backward in sheer terror.

Dominic didn't call for backup. He didn't pull a weapon. He stared at me with profound, overwhelming respect. He finally saw Arthur’s daughter.

"Stand down!" Dominic roared to the rest of the security detail rushing into the hall. "No one touches her!"

I stood tall in the center of the room, my chest heaving. I reached up, grabbed the heavy silver pendant, and pressed a hidden mechanism on the side. The silver crest popped open with a quiet click.
