Chapter 8 - The Digital Guillotine

"I didn't come here tonight just to deliver a cake," I stated, my voice echoing with icy, unbreakable authority. "For ten years, I couldn't open this pendant. But last week, I finally decoded my father's journal. The files on this drive required proximity to the Sterling secure network to unlock. I needed a way into this mansion."
Dominic stepped forward, extending his large, scarred hand.
I didn't hesitate. I placed the micro-SD card directly into his palm.
Dominic pulled his encrypted smartphone from his black trousers. He inserted the drive. The screen flared to life, illuminating his pale, shocked face in the dim room.
The cinematic realism of his absolute, volcanic rage was terrifying.
"Audio recordings," Dominic whispered, scrolling through the files. "Bank transfers. Offshore ledgers."
He turned his phone around, facing the screen directly toward Vanessa, who was weeping hysterically on the floor.
"Your father ordered the hit on Arthur," Dominic growled softly, entirely devoid of human mercy. "The Vance family embezzled three billion dollars from my empire, and when my mentor found out, you murdered him. And you, Vanessa... you signed the wire transfers to pay the mechanics who cut his brakes."
Vanessa let out a horrific, high-pitched wail of pure agony.

"Dominic, please!" Vanessa sobbed, crawling desperately across the ruined cake toward his expensive shoes. "I was just a girl! My father forced me to sign those papers! I love you! I was going to be your wife!"
👉 Dominic looked down at the weeping monster, and he was finally ready to unleash total, apocalyptic justice.
